Tax Refund 2023

The Internal Revenue Service launched the 2023 tax filing season with a priority on improving service and a reminder to taxpayers to file via electronically with direct deposit to fasten your refunds and avoid delays. Moreover, when your tax refund 2023  is on the right track to start with, the chances that you’ll get your refund quickly go way up, according to IRS spokesperson Eric Smith said in an interview.

Furthermore, Taxpayers’ deadline is April 18 to file taxes for this year, but some taxpayers living overseas and disaster victims may have later filing deadlines. Alabama, California, and Georgia storm victims now have an extended deadline until May 15 to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

Here Are 5 Ways To Avoid Delays And Have A Smooth Filing Season

To avoid refund delays, here are five ways you can do to advance your tax refund in 2023.

  1. File online – The IRS is encouraging everyone to file online returns rather than filing a paper ones especially if you want your refund quickly. Most online filers that prefer direct deposit should get their refunds within 21 days of filing. A paper return, on the other hand, could get you an extended refund delay.
  2. Make sure to gather all your documents before filing – By gathering forms it means preparing your documents such as W-2s and 1099s. If you don’t add all of these on your return, you’ll end up with a different result than what the IRS has on file. This will trigger a notice from the IRS that your tax return and return will be delayed.
  3. Claim the correct dependents –  Make sure that the dependents you claim aren’t also claiming themselves on their returns. If that happens, one of you will have to fix a return, which can cause delays. You also need to be certain that you input the correct Social Security number for each dependent.
  4. Don’t forget to sign your return – As the IRS’s Smith expressed “Sending in an unsigned paper tax return is like sending in no return at all and at that point, it will be invalid.” The IRS must return it back to you to be signed, and by the time you send it back, it could already be caught up in a significant backlog.
  5. Make sure that you are sending your return to the correct IRS processing center – If you wrongly transmit it the IRS will need to forward it to the right one, which places you at the back of the line.
