A 23-year-old News Jersey man is dead after being stabbed at a high school basketball game in Trenton.

The incident at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. Khalil Glanton 23 years old of Trenton, was stabbed numerous times and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead after a short time.
Trenton Superintendent James Earle said in a statement Friday morning that said Glanton was a Trenton Central High School alumni who graduated in 2019. No other current students were involved in the fight, but everyone involved was cautioned to stay away from the school.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora is requesting an investigation into the crime incident. Some students say they’re now scared to attend big school events. Security at CURE Insurance Arena is private, and metal detectors were in place but still, a knife was not detected. Gusciora, who attended the tournament, says the city should be celebrating, not grieving.
Motive For The Stabbing Of The New Jersey Man Remains Under Investigation
According to Fox News, no other injuries were reported in the incident and no arrests have been made. A motive for the stabbing remains under investigation. Authorities refused to provide further details about the incident, including if it was connected in any way to the game, which ended around the time the stabbing occurred.
