Dale Folwell, North Carolina’s elected state treasurer, declared that in January 2022: “We just discovered $248,000 for a person in Stokes County who was the beneficiary of a life insurance policy,” local Fox affiliate WGHP reports.

Any unclaimed money is owed to you lawfully, but you need to make the effort and claim it. Any person rightfully owed less than $5,000 by NCCash.com should be getting a letter from Folwell’s office guaranteeing that your unclaimed funds will be mailed within two months.
Whether you receive a letter or not, you should put your name on NCCash.com to look for unclaimed property. Simply encode your first and last name or business name if applicable, narrow your search by submitting your city and ZIP code, and click the search button.
Upon choosing all the properties you wish to claim, choose “Continue to File Claim,” verify your connection to each property and click “File Claim.” After documenting your personal information, select “Next” to file the claim. Since the program began, more than 150,000 claims have been paid to North Carolina residents, according to Folwell. The state returned more than $100 million to claimants between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022.
