Georgia Police Rescued Elderly Woman
Police officers in Georgia receive a lot of appreciation and were even called heroes after busting through a window of a smoke-filled home and rescuing an elderly woman trapped in a house fire, authorities said Wednesday.
On Sunday, Georgia Police officers responded to a house fire call in Conyers and spotted a person inside the home trying to get their attention from a window, the Conyers Police Department said. Moreover, Senior Police Officer Smith, Senior Police Officer Samuels, and Officer Wright raced to reach the trapped woman.
Bodycam Shows How Georgia Police Officers Recused The Woman
Bodycam video the department released shows Smith breaking the window and ripping out the blinds before climbing inside the smoke-filled home. Smith can be heard shouting out to the victim just to find her in a room full of smoke. He takes her to the window before handing her through to officers outside, the video shows. “Officers did not know when the next call will reach or what that call will be but they are always ready,” the department wrote. “This bodycam video gives insight into officers’ courage and bravery that is portrayed every single day.”
No Georgia Police officers were injured during the rescue, and the woman was treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation and has since been released from the hospital already.
