Americans could apply for direct payments worth $100 from a whopping $17.5 billion pot of cash of New York State unclaimed funds.

Thomas DiNapoli’s office the State Comptroller declared that New York had accumulated a fortune of unclaimed money and urged residents to apply for direct payments. New York officials return $1.5 million to residents who file claims daily, DiNapoli’s office wrote.
The huge pot of missing cash comes from inactive accounts that are turned over to the New York state by insurance companies, banks, investment companies, and other businesses. Common examples of misplaced accounts include savings, checking accounts, rental security deposits, insurance benefits, and mutual funds. Many residents are qualified for the cash but might be unaware of the payment, leading officials to invigorate everyone to take a few minutes and apply.
New Yorkers Are Urged To Apply For The Unclaimed Funds
according to Advance Local Media outlet Staten Island Live, DiNapoli said that during the time that several New Yorkers are struggling to make ends meet, every dollar counts hence, DiNapoli’s office is working diligently to urge New Yorkers to claim their lost money.
New Yorkers can apply for the missing funds through the comptroller’s office website. With the click of a button, residents can pass their names and any organization they may be connected with to see if they are eligible for New York State unclaimed funds.
