According to the police report, a Texas mother is wanted for abandoning her 12-year-old and 3-year-old children for nearly two months.
Mother Wanted for Leaving 2 Children Alone
A mother is wanted by police after being accused of abandoning her two young children home alone for nearly more than a month and in deplorable conditions with very little food in Montgomery County, according to the Roman Forest Police Department. A warrant has been issued for Raven Yates 31 years old with charges of two counts of Abandon Endanger Child Without Intent to Return, according to the Roman Forest police.
Police said in late November of last year, they got a call from a concerned father saying that his 12-year-old daughter had been home alone with her 3-year-old brother since September 28, 2022. A family member told police that Yates had been seen in Mobile, Alabama, without the kids then they contacted the father. The father also realized the kids had been left home alone for a long period because his daughter asked him to send food regularly.
Chief Stephen Carlisle said, No food to eat in the house, all are empty. Carlisle also said that a 12-year-old cannot take care of a 3-year-old for a long period, especially over a month and a half and it’s dangerous and irresponsible of a parent. Without medical supplies or ways to get food.
Yates threatened her 12-year-old daughter that his father would take her and leave her 3-year-old brother alone if she told anyone this because the children have 2 different fathers, according to investigators.
Children Are Not Enrolled In School
Police said the man fled from California, where he was working as a music producer, instantly right after figuring out the children were alone. Moreover, the police said that the family moved to Texas about a year ago, and the children were not even enrolled in school.
A warrant for her arrest was issued in December. Yates has been actively posting on social media accounts with thousands of followers as the Roman Forest police and Mobile police are working together on this case to make an arrest. The children are secure with a relative in Alabama, police say.
