IRS Offers Additional Tax Support Office

Several Americans are looking for more support with their taxes from the Internal Revenue Service. Moreover, IRS finally address taxpayers’ concerns in support of their applications, as new measures are being brought in, with the IRS announcing special Saturday hours for the following four months. These will be available at Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs) across the nation as part of an ongoing effort to improve service during the current tax season.

The ‘special Saturdays’ will be available on February 11, March 11, April 8, and May 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Throughout this special four-month event, offices in several states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico will be available without an appointment. On February 11, including 40 sites are expected to open, while 58 offices are anticipated to being on March 11. For details regarding the exclusive Saturday hours, the IRS invites taxpayers to visit their special page on IRS.gov.

Doug O’Donnell acting IRS Commissioner said that the Saturday openings are part of the extra steps the IRS is taking to make a difference for taxpayers. “IRS are are doing everything to support people by making improvements across the operations. These walk-in offices are critical, and funding from the Inflation Reduction Act is permitting us to add more employees across the nation to better assist taxpayers this filing season and beyond. These special Saturday hours will help people get the services they need” O’Donnell said in a statement.

Documents To Prepare Prior Visiting IRS Offices

Before visiting an office, the IRS recommends checking IRS.gov for information on these special openings.  To skip a journey, they could even locate an internet resource to address their tax issue. Taxpayers can communicate with IRS agents in person at these TACs. These facilities often don’t operate on Saturdays, and clients need to make appointments to obtain treatments.

People can walk in for all regular office services during these Saturday hours, except for paying with cash. Also, they can inquire about making an online account and obtaining an identity protection PIN.

Moreover, The agency has provided guidelines to assist  people to prepare for their office visits:

  • Latest government-issued photo identification,
  • Social Security cards or ITINs for applicants and all members of their household, including their spouse and dependents (if applicable),
  • Any IRS letters or notices acquired and linked with documents,
  • For identity verification services, two forms of identification and, if filed, a copy of the tax return for the year in inquiry.

Lastly, IRS may also ask you to provide information on a current mailing address and proof of bank account information included on a tax return to receive payments or refunds by direct deposit.
