Hired Workers Stole $19,000 and Jewelry from Apartment

Two workers from a hired company to restore a Chicago high-rise apartment building, allegedly stole $19,000 and jewelry from one resident’s apartment. Authorities reported that the culprits were men aged, 20 and 26. They were charged with felony residential burglary in accordance with court records. A co-op apartment was burglarized while the owner went away for a week. Having a CCTV installed, an alert was sent informing her of movement inside her unit in Chicago’s South side.

The Result of an Unauthorized Entry

Prosecutors reported that the camera captured the culprits’ faces before it was smashed. The owner then discovered two envelopes missing from her home. Both of which contain a total amount of $19,000. Two bags of jewelry was also discovered missing as she reported to the building management according to a report by Fox News.

The management alerted the restoration company hired to restore the apartment after a fire incident last Jan. 25. According to police reports, the men were identified by the supervisor as temporary workers hired to work in the fire-damaged building. There was strict instruction not to enter the units but clearly failed on following instructions which led to their arrest after a series of investigations.
