Turn Off Appliances To Save Money

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 75% of appliance energy use comes from when the appliance is turned off. Energy vampires can cost you an extra $250 or more a year. Every American resident is looking to save money where they can and cut back on their energy use as much as possible. Turning off appliances and devices that drain your energy when left on standby could save money.

Experts have warned that leaving everyday items such as computers and security lights on can see costs rack up.

Expert Reavels Some Appliances Use The Most Power

Ben Gallizzi at Uswitch reveals bout which appliances can increase costs even when they’re turned off. Gallizzi said that several devices around the house could pile up to your energy bills while they are on standby.

These devices left to charge, like laptops, tablets, and mobile phones, as well as TVs, game consoles, and desktop computers, can use relatively little energy, but still, it’s best to turn them off to avoid extra costs. Moreover, Old models of  TVs, game consoles, and computers use much more power than newer models, so it may be worthwhile turning them off at the wall if they are not used often.

Gallizzi also said that broadband networks regularly monitor the speed and reliability of your internet connection so shutting off your router frequently can make your provider think there is a faulty line. So it is not recommended that you turn off Wi-Fi routers.
