Walgreens stopped its purchase limits for some over-the-counter products.
Walgreens Major Changes
several retailers and pharmacies experienced supply chain issues and were forced to put limits on how many children’s medicine products customers could purchase.
CVS, Kroger, and Walgreens are some of the stores that install limits to medicines like Children’s Tylenol and other fever-reducing products. For every transaction, Walgreens added a limit of six over-the-counter pediatric fever reducer products for customers. However, this did not apply to purchasing the meds in-store.
The limit imposed was due to the high demand for children’s pain and fever medications as a respiratory virus season put pressure on pediatric hospitals. Since the limits are gone, purchasing those children’s medicines online has resumed back to normal functions.
Virus Hits In The Us Affecting Children
Amid an active respiratory virus season that has put pediatric hospitals under intense pressure. Drug manufacturers point to a big spike in demand and given the surge in three respiratory viruses right now: COVID, RSV, and influenza, what has been termed a “tripledemic.” The combination of flu arriving early while RSV is surging and COVID-19 is still spreading threatens to overwhelm the healthcare system.
Furthermore, José Romeno, MD, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, stated on a press call that RSV rates are decreasing, in the south and south-central regions of America, where rates of the flu have started to rise.
In the meantime, getting kids vaccinated against illnesses can protect them, and keep them at home when they’re sick to stop infections from spreading further.
