South Carolina Residents to Receive $800 One-Time Direct Payment

If they filed their tax returns last Oct. 17, taxpayers from South Carolina are supposed to receive their rebates in spring. The first round of rebates to eligible taxpayers is already done according to the state’s Department of Revenue. They stated on their website that rebates have been issued to those who filed a 2021 SC Individual Income Tax return by October 17.  The rebates are given either through direct deposits or mailed through paper checks according to a post by The US Sun.

Things to Consider for You to be Eligible

There are things to consider if you want to be eligible for this one-time direct payment. You can get the rebate if you have Individual Income Tax liability for the 2021 tax year. Other qualifications also require you to be either a resident, a part-year resident or a nonresident of South Carolina. This also means that you must have filed your Income Tax Return by February 15 in order to receive the second round of rebate payments.

Meanwhile, you can’t be eligible if you haven’t filed your Income Tax return yet and don’t have Individual Income Tax liability for 2021. Your rebate amount can be calculated based on your tax liability from 2021. You can get as much as $800 but if your tax liability is less than that amount, your rebate will be the same amount as your tax liability.

The same bank account will be used to issue your rebate if you received your 2021 refund by direct deposit. A paper can be given if there is a notification sent to the department for the change in banking information by November 1. Married couples who filed a joint 2021 Individual Income Tax return will receive one rebate.
