As stated by Yahoo Finance, the Social Security Administration will offer an increase of 8.7% in the new payment amounts for 2023, making it the highest adjustment it has provided since 1981 and the fourth-largest COLA in program history. According to AARP, that will amount to an average increase of $146 per check.

Since the first of the month is a holiday and a weekend day in 2023, Supplemental Security Income recipients will receive their first checks on December 30. However, general Social Security recipients will continue to receive their payments on Wednesdays depending on their birthdate. • Recipients are paid on the second Wednesday of every month for birth dates that fall on the first through the tenth.
• Recipients are paid on the third Wednesday of every month for birth dates that fall on the 11th through the 20th.
• Recipients are paid on the fourth Wednesday of every month for birth dates that fall on the 21st through the 31st.
