A guy’s armed robbery ended in a very clumsy way a month after he allegedly entered a convenience store and stole items.

On Dec. 4 at around 5 a.m., a man walked into a local Stop N Go convenience store carrying a small revolver, according to the Ponca city police. He reportedly robbed the store at gunpoint and did it while wearing a mask or head accessory in the shape of a football.
As stated by True Crime Daily, the Ponca Police Department officers went to a storage unit on the 900 block of North Union on January 3 and found a male and female inside. Authorities reported the male, who they identified as Jerid Dustin Smith, reportedly hid from officers the moment they arrived while the female remained “uncooperative.”

Smith was eventually located in a storage unit and then arrested on several outstanding warrants. He confessed to robbing the convenience store while wearing the football mask but said the reason for his action was that so he and his girlfriend could afford to pay for their storage shed.
He was sent to the Ponca City Jail on several charges. This included obstructing an officer, bringing contraband into a jail, and first-degree robbery, as well as his warrants.
