SSI recipients are about to receive a $914 direct payment to next year’s boosted benefit two days before 2023 arrives.
The two Social Security checks
Recipients from SSI, SSDI, and Social Security will get an 8.7 percent increase in the cost of living adjustment (COLA) implemented to boost their benefits in 2023.
The first payment worth $841, will be delivered to eligible recipients on December 1 and the other will be on December 30 with an average of $914, will be delivered. The second payment on December 30 is an early payment for January 2023 since it represents the revised SSI benefit level for the following year.
Individuals who already had $841 in Supplemental Security Income will now get $914. Because the payment for January 1, 2023, falls on a Sunday and is a holiday, SSI users will get two December payments.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) sends the checks the next working day whenever that occurs. Moreover, that day is Friday, December 30, SSI applicants will have two payments in a month twice more this year, in April and September.
Here’s Who Qualifies For This SSI Payment

For couples, they are allowed a max of $3,000 in assets while individuals are limited to $2,000 in assets. This initiative gives funds to cover basic needs including clothing, food, and accommodation.
