$1658 Property Tax Rebates for Residents In Pennsylvania

Citizens of Pennsylvania have only two weeks left to apply for a property tax refund, which could be worth as much as $1,658. According to a report by The Sun’s Suzanne Blake on December 16, 2022, The state’s property tax refund program started distributing direct deposit payments on July 1. However, individuals can still receive a rebate through the end of the year.

Individuals must be 65 or older, widows or widowers 50 or older or have a disability, and be 18 or older to be qualified for the discount.

Moreover, household owners must have an income of less than $35,000 per year and renters less than $15,000 per year. The size of the rebate varies depending on income, with those earning up to $8,000 getting $650 and those earning $8,000 to $15,000 getting $500.

According to a published post by Local Today, property owners whose income is between $15,000 and $18,000 will get $300, and those earning between $18,000 and $35,000 will receive $250.

Residents In Pennsylvania Will Be Getting A Property Tax Rebate Worth $1,658

In addition to the initial rebate, the state has also said that anyone receiving a rebate will be claiming an additional check for 70% of the initial refund amount. That means everyone eligible for $975 will get a total of $1,657.50.

To check the status of a rebate request, applicants must send their social security number, year of recommendation, and date of birth and can do so through the government’s Where’s My Rebate tool.

The property tax refund program will have distributed a total of $213 million to over 440,000 Pennsylvania seniors by 2022. Since its inception in 1971, the program has paid out a total of $7.3 billion.
