54-Year-Old Los Angeles Woman Found Guilty Of Fatally Poisoning Boyfriend in 2015

BATON ROUGE, L.A. – 54 yrs. old woman, 7 years after she allegedly murdered a family friend, was plead guilty in a trial this week.

After a 2-week trial, a judge found Meshell Hale guilty of poisoning Damian Skipper, her boyfriend, with barium acetate, according to WVLA-TV. Advocates convey that Hale chose a bench trial over a jury trial. Hale made her 3 purchases of her poison digitally paid for it with her credit card and delivered it to her home.

Skipper, 41, died on June 30, 2015, after being hospitalized numerously due to a need for medical attention, according to the Advocate. Unfortunately, WAFB-TV reports that his doctor said Skipper died of a heart attack.

According to a published post by True Crime Daily, officers allegedly disinter Skipper’s body, and the East Baton Rouge community investigator said his cause of death was a homicide due to barium poisoning.

Months after Skipper’s demise, Arthur Noflin, Hale’s estranged husband, was hospitalized with the same symptoms as Skipper’s (vomiting, weakness, and abdominal pain).

March 2016: According to the Advocate, a burned body was found in Noflin’s pickup truck that had been set ablaze and abandoned in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward. The condition of Noflin’s remains reportedly meant that his demise was not considered a homicide, and unfortunately, Hale was never charged.

“Cardiac arrest drugs,” and “Barium acetate poisoning and in food,” are what Hale searched topics, WAFB reported. In 2018. Hale was arrested in connection with Skipper’s death. On Friday, Noflin and Skipper’s family waited for the verdict outside the Baton Rouge courtroom.

“Although there was direct proof, in this case, there was a piece of abundant circumstantial evidence linking to Mr. Skipper’s death. There is no doubt that Mr. Skipper was the victim of barium poisoning and died from it.” Bigelow said in his ruling. Hale reportedly be sentenced on the 20th of December.
