The payments were approved on May 9 by the school board, and they will be sent by Dec. 15, Talk Business says. “Eligible staff includes classroom teachers and other department level certified staff, including but not limited to, interventionists, instructional specialists, special education coordinators, and adult education teachers,” read an email from the Fort Smith Public Schools’ chief financial officer, Charles Warren, “School-level administrators (such as principals and assistant principals) will also be qualified.”
Stimulus update: Direct one-time $1,500 bonus check payments are being sent out today
According to a published post by MSN, Some school staff, including district-level administrators such as department directors, are not eligible for this payment. Nurses, police officers, and professional support staff also aren’t qualified, as they have separate salary schedules, as Stated in Warren’s email.
Teachers will also get a benefit from the Certified Salary Schedule, which will increase their salaries by $3,471.81 annually, a 5.89% pay raise for the 2022-2023 school year. The payment bonus is being paid as a lot of people are still facing high inflation during the very busy Christmas season.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics report published on Tuesday showed annual inflation has been slowed to 7.1% in November, which outpaced the projected 7.3%.
