Americans are getting a $500 relief payment from a $5 million pot, take a look at who is qualified.
In Missouri, Inside the city of St. Louis, there’s a program approved to supply a relief check of $500 monthly to citizens as part of the guaranteed basic income initiative. The Board of Aldermen in St. Louis Missouri wanted to provide these payments to hundreds of low-income families to help them during the holidays.
The program however needs the approval of Mayor Tishaura to implement it, this is done as a next step. Once it is approved, the city will take cash from a $5 million pandemic recovery pot of funds and give about 440 poverty-stricken families these $500 checks over the next 18 months.
The city wanted this program to work to help parents that have children in public schools and lost money during the global pandemic. President Megan Green of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen spoke to fox and said: “Today we demonstrate our commitment to St. Louis families and their children.
According to a published post by Marca, no child’s education should be compromised because their living arrangements make it difficult to study.”

The families who receive this payment will have the chance to use them at their discretion. Offering families to pay off debt and rent is the aim for this, as well as afford basic food and grocery necessities for their children. If this is approved, qualified people for these payments are low-income parents or guardians of their children in city public schools.

These payments also range between $300 and $500 for families needing them. However, San Francisco does have a program known as the guaranteed income program that offers
$1200 monthly payment. The deadline for application ended on December 15.
