The House of Representatives is turning over to Republicans for most of the control. Not a single Republican support the American Rescue Plan or expanded Child Tax Credit. However, One Democratic congressman is hoping to extend the expanded Child Tax Credit before Republicans take over in 19 days.

In 19 days, according to Knowledge, the new 118th Congress will be sworn into office. Republicans will be in charge of the House of Representatives while Democrats will maintain to have a majority in the Senate. This shift in voting power may help explain why, last week, Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff sent an urgent request to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and current House Majority leader Steny Hoyer.

Although there remains a difference between what Democrats and Republicans want to achieve in an updated program, the fact that negotiations remain a hopeful sign of great things are about to come. It is uncertain if the two parties will manage to come up with an agreement and if they can, it’s difficult to know what will be included and what will be eliminated.
