28-Year-Old Teacher Accused with Improper Relationship With Student

28-year-old Grand Prairie ISD teacher Kenrick Burns was arrested on Wednesday after police investigated a tip and resigned from his job. Grand Prairie Police Department arrested a teacher for suspicion of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

According to the police, an alleged intimate relationship between an 18-year-old female student and a Grand Prairie ISD teacher and coach was reported to detectives on Dec 4. In accordance to the results of the investigations, Burns was arrested on a felony charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.

According to a published post by Dallas News, it was unclear whether he had an attorney so the police stated that he was being held at the Grand Prairie jail on $50,000 bail.  According to the officials, Burns had not been at a Grand Prairie ISD campus since Dec. 2. He was later placed on paid administrative leave and has since resigned.

According to the statement by Grand Prairie ISD Superintendent, Linda Ellis, she wants parents to know that we do not tolerate any form of inappropriate communication or contact between a teacher and a student. Also, she followed that they will always act swiftly to make sure concerns are properly investigated and appropriate action is taken to ensure our student’s safety.
