The story of a 13-year-old Alabama boy who was declared 15 minutes brain-dead, his parents even signed a waiver to donate his organ but miraculously regained consciousness.
The Miraculous Recovery of Trenton McKinley
Trenton McKinley, 13, had an accident while he was riding on a small trailer that was being pulled by a dune buggy outside in his friend’s house suddenly hit the brakes by his playmate, flipping the trailer and throwing Trenton to the ground. He was then rushed to emergency surgery and suffered severe skull fractures.
Trenton Jennifer Reindl spoke on Fox 10. “He was of 15 minutes, brain-dead” after he came back, they said he would never be the same again that he would be a vegetable even if he made it.” Teton’s Parents are hopeless and accepted the fact of his condition, they even had the most difficult decision in their life to make, by taking their son’s life support off. They signed a waiver to have his organs donated to five kids “who needed my son’s organs that matched him,” said Reindl. “It was unfair for me to keep bringing him back because it was just damaging him and his organs more.”
According to the WALA news outlet, Trenton began to show signs of coming back from the verge, his hand moved, then his feet. The boy shows signs of mental cognition just a day before doctors were set to pull the plug off the life machine.
Trenton’s on his Way to Fully Recover
Since then, McKinley has made a remarkable recovery, and the boy believes he was in heaven while his body was on life support. “There’s no other explanation but God,” he explained. “There’s no other way. Even doctors said it.”
Since the incident, Trenton had three brain operations, and while he’s been having remarkable progress but he’s still got a long way to go in his rehabilitation. He even drop 50 pounds, experience nerve pain, and seizures, and is currently missing half his skull, which will be replaced in an upcoming surgery.
