$1,000 Stimulus Money in Five Days!

Christmas came so early for the employees of Anne Arundel County Public School since they will be receiving $1,000 Stimulus money in five days.

The bonus is dedicated to the school’s employees (HeadTopics). According to the superintendent the employees’ appreciation bonus will be distributed to all permanent staff except those on a leave of absence. Moreover, on December 16, it would be funded by the open positions in the school system.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland (AACPS)

The superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Bedell wrote in a letter to AACPS staff stating “No school system can be great without great people,”. Bedel expressed his great gratitude towards the staff’s hard work  “As I have said before, the job you are doing in the face of some significant challenges is remarkable. No matter what position you hold in our school system, your commitment and enthusiasm serve our students every day. Please keep that in mind”

Separately, an additional healthcare premium holiday will be covered for all AACPS staff by AACPS healthcare plans. In this initiative, no healthcare premium (including any relevant spousal surcharge) will be deducted from the December 28, 2022, pay.

Moreover, on both of these initiatives, the second of which comes about as a result of the level of our healthcare
the fund balance will be forthcoming from the Division of Human Resources.

Furthermore, Bedell won’t accept the bonus for himself. The AACPS Board of Education supports the bonus, thus the school system will not require additional funding to cover the bonuses. AAPCS took note of the “extreme circumstances” employees had to deal with amid national woes such as inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic resulting from the growing shortage of public schools nationwide.
