FC Cincinnati Ends Season on a High

FC Cincinnati closed their regular season campaign on a high note and now know their first playoff opponent.

FC Cincinnati played the last regular season match of their inaugural campaign on Saturday evening against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. They finished with a 1-0 victory against their Eastern Conference rivals. Sean “Ugo” Okoli scored the lone goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 31st minute. That strike will almost certainly secure him the USL’s Golden Boot award. The Orange and Blue had already secured third place and a playoff berth prior to the match, and could not improve their seeding with this result. Coach John Harkes still opted to start a strong lineup with an eye on going into the playoffs with momentum and a win.

Based on other results in the Eastern Conference, FC Cincinnati’s playoff matchup became clear. They will face the Charleston Battery at Nippert Stadium on October 2nd in the first round of the USL playoffs.
